“If you do nothing unexpected, nothing unexpected happens!”

Fay Weldon

Sometimes in life we all get crazy ideas when we want to stop what we are doing, jump off the bus, get out of the rat race, not tread the expected path. We want to jump in our car, grab the steering wheel and make a hard right turn instead of going straight on!

The difficulty is that we are so conditioned not to: everyone knows the path we should be taking, we play by the rules, get educated, hopefully university, married, 2 kids, good job, not forgetting our pension, retire and die!

Maybe I’m being a bit cynical but sometimes we all need a wake-up call – life is short and I’m not saying that to be morbid, but to remind each and every one of us that it’s so important:

  • To follow your Passion and Dreams – remember those that were so clear when we were kids, do you ever wonder where they have gone and why you let them go?
  • To trust your Intuition, it’s ALWAYS right – we all have inner wisdom that speaks to us all the time, all we need to do is listen.
  • To trust that it will all work out in the end – it might not be in the way you planned, or how you wanted it, but if you lose faith in this, you live in fear (and that is a horrible place to be).
  • To really understand the power of our thoughts – this changes everything, always and in all ways.
  • To know that the outside world cannot make us feel anything – only our thinking can make us feel things.
  • To know that when our thinking changes, our experience changes – it really does and that does mean that it is all down to you.

We are each individual, unique and with our own special talents, and yes, you can do what you truly want, live the life you really want, be the person you desire – the only person stopping you is YOU!

It doesn’t have to be something huge or radical.  That might not be what you actually want!  It might be spending more time with your family, doing something for yourself (such an important one!), learning a new skill, joining a Pilates class, trying meditation, learning a language, taking up dancing, taking 6 weeks off work to travel, trek to Everest Base Camp, end a draining relationship, start a new one – whatever pushes your buttons!

Just make a deal with yourself to not put it off but do it right now – stop playing it safe and start really living your life!
