How changing how you think can change your life!

I’ve talked about this before, but it’s such an important point, it’s worth saying again 🙂

We often look at our circumstances, find dissatisfaction in them and wish to change them: we assume if we change our circumstances, then we ‘know’ that things will be better?!

We say things like, ‘If only I could change jobs, I would be happy’, ‘If I could lose a stone, I would be happier’, ‘When I go on holiday I will be less stressed’ etc.

Have you thought that it might not be the circumstances themselves that are the problem, but your thoughts about the circumstances?

Can a ‘job’ really be either stressful or happy, or is it that you think it is? Many people can do the same job and some will love it, others not.  Is it therefore the job that is at fault, or is it the way you think about the job?

Surely it’s not the situation you are in that’s causing the problem, but it’s how you think about the situation.  It’s that you allow yourself to think negatively about it. Most of us ‘feel’ what we ‘think’, if you think your job is stressful, you feel stressed and become stuck in that situation.

It’s not about focusing on changing your circumstances, but rather focus on what you think about those circumstances… If you don’t believe something will happen – ‘I’m stuck in this job forever!’ – it becomes your self-fulfilling destiny!

Change your focus, change your thoughts – you are in control of your thoughts and therefore your own success and happiness.  Take responsibility for your thoughts and control your own destiny.
